WHAT TO PREPARE

Alongside your child’s online application form, there are a few other documents to prepare.

EARLY YEARS
For our youngest applicants in the early years, please include a teacher’s report (if they’ve been attending preschool) to help us get to know your child’s abilities, interests, and needs. The report should include notes about the student’s general behaviour and habits at school, too.

PRIMARY SCHOOL
For primary applicants, please include a tutor’s report, their latest school report, and final marks from the previous school year. Also, as part of the assessment process, we invite all primary students into our school for a taster day, helping them experience learning here alongside their future classmates!

SECONDARY SCHOOL
Secondary applicants, including those to our National and International Baccalaureate Programmes: will need a form tutor’s report, your latest report, and previous school year reports. We also ask that you write and include a motivation letter.

Please prepare: 

  • A form tutor’s report or student recommendation form: We’ll give you this form to share with your current school. It helps us understand more about you and includes information about your academics, general behaviour, and attitude as a learner.
  • Your latest school report
  • Your reports from the previous academic year
  • A motivation letter: Please write and submit a letter that explains why you want to study at Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona. Tell us more about your study habits, independence, extracurricular activities, participation in competitions, volunteering, or other interests and activities that you’re involved in.
  • English Assessment: We may ask you to complete an English assessment that consists of an oral and written component to understand your general English level.

Get ready to meet our team!
We’ll invite you for an informal chat with a member of our senior academic team, so that we can get to know each other.  If you have applied for boarding, we will also include our Head of Boarding.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

Students joining Hamelin-Laie for the final year of secondary or the IB Diploma Programme will need an adequate level of English.  

We’re happy to talk to you about our school’s English standards by grade, and we’ll assist you in finding the right level of support.
