LANGUAGE CERTIFICATES

Our students may take official exams to showcase their level of achievement and language proficiency in English, German, French, and Chinese.

ENGLISH

At Hamelin-Laie, from primary to secondary school, our students can take Cambridge English exams.

  • Our students in sixth form of primary school practice grammar, reading, listening, writing, and speaking for the Pet exam, which is B1 level for the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). They may take the official Cambridge exam in June, held in our school.
  • In the first year of secondary school, our students practice these skills at B1 or higher.
  • In the second year of secondary school, our students practice full exams and get ready to take the official Cambridge First Certificate exam at B2 level, held in our school in June.
  • Our third-year secondary students start an advanced level and practicing all these skills on a B2-plus level.
  • Our fourth-year secondary students practice full exams for the official Cambridge Advanced exam at C1 level, held in our school in June.
  • Students in our Bachillerato and IB Diploma programmes may continue to study these five skills for the Cambridge Proficiency exam at C2 level, held in Barcelona on a date agreed upon by our teacher and students.

GERMAN

We offer the following official German exams, usually held in May at the Goethe Institute of Barcelona.

  • Our first-year secondary students may take the Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Fit in Deutsch A1.
  • Our second- and third-year secondary students may take the Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Fit in Deutsch (A2.1 in the second year and A2.2 in the third year).
  • Students who wish to continue may take the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 in their fourth year of secondary school.

FRENCH

We offer the following official French exams, usually in June at the French Institute of Barcelona.

  • Students in their sixth year of primary school may take the official French A exam.
  • Students in the second year of secondary school may take the A2 exam.
  • Students who wish to continue may take the B1 in their fourth year of secondary school.

CHINESE

Our students may take the YCT (Youth Chinese Test) as a second foreign language exam. For primary and secondary students, the test has different levels: YCT Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4.

We offer the following official exams at the Confucius Institute of Barcelona, usually held in May:

  • The fifth and sixth years of primary school, our students may take the YCT Level 2 (A1) exam.
  • Our second- and third-year secondary students may take the YCT Level 3 (A2) exam.
  • Students who wish to continue may take the HSK in their fourth year of secondary education.
